Keep the map with no signal
Your phone loses signal early on the fjord roads, just when you need the map. Download each country on your trip before you leave. Then the map, route planning and the voice that calls your turns all work with no signal.
1Open Menu, then Offline
Tap Menu at the top left of the screen. Then tap Offline at the top of the menu. This tab holds everything you can keep on your phone. The downloads are big. Do this at home on wifi before you leave. Keep your phone on its charger if you can.

2Find each country you'll cross
Under Download a country is one list of 38 countries. The country the map is on comes first, and it says where the map is. The rest go from A to Z. Each row shows its size. One country holds its map, its 3D hills and its routes.

3Tap Download for each one
Tap Download for every country on your trip. The row says what it is getting: map, routing, then terrain, and how far it has got. Keep the app open until the row says On this phone. If it stops, tap Get the rest to carry on. You won't lose what is already done.

4Countries join at the border
Countries next to each other join up. So a route over a border still works with no signal. Download every country on the way, not just the first and last. Some small ones come with a big one. Andorra is in Spain. Monaco is in France. San Marino is in Italy. Liechtenstein is in Switzerland.

5Leave Map source on Auto
At the top of the Offline tab, tap Advanced to see Map source. Leave it on Auto. Auto uses the online map when it can. When nothing comes through, it moves to your downloaded map by itself. Then it moves back. Offline only always uses your download. Online only never does. The line under it says which map it is using now.

6Head out and tap Nav
With no signal, the maps and 3D hills you downloaded still show. A route you planned stays on the map. Tap Nav, and it still says each turn out loud with your phone's own voice. You can plan a new route in any country you downloaded. Live things like rain radar, new weather and fire updates need a signal.

Good to know
Your maps are kept in your phone's web browser. If you clear your browsing data, they go too. On a phone, the app may offer to download the country you are in. Tap Download on that card, or Not now. Stop ends a download part way. When a newer copy of a country is ready, an Update button shows on its row. The bin button removes it.
Also in the app: turn by turn navigation, campsites and aires, and Plan with AI. It plans routes for seven kinds of vehicle, from an enduro bike to a motorhome.
